Real parametric 3D CAD that runs on school Chromebooks with nothing to install. Students design for free; a single teacher license exports and prints the whole class's work.
See the Teacher LicenseThe full toolset runs in the browser at $0 — no installs, no student accounts, unlimited saves.
BasicCAD's native file is the whole editable design, not a screenshot. Share it by email, a shared drive or a link.
Exporting STL, STEP and 3MF is the only locked feature, and it only needs unlocking on the machine that does the printing.
No accounts, no per-seat fees.
Exports for the whole room.
$3.75 a month. 30-day free trial, no card.
Never billed again. Every future update included.
BasicCAD is a web app, so there is nothing to package or approve in the Chrome Web Store. To put it on every managed Chromebook, open the Google Admin console, go to Devices ▸ Chrome ▸ Apps & extensions ▸ Users & browsers, choose the students' organizational unit, add https://basiccad.xyz/ with Add by URL, and set it to Force install. It then appears in the launcher like any installed app and opens in its own window.
Students don't sign in to design, and their work is saved as files on the device, so no student data has to leave the school to get started.
Keychains and name tags with editable text, phone stands, LEGO-compatible bricks, gears with the built-in involute gear generator, a bolt and nut with real printable threads, and small assemblies like a caster wheel. The splash screen's example gallery has ready-made parts students can open, take apart and modify.
Send students the link — they can start designing right away. Start the teacher license's free trial when you're ready to print.
